What to expect: a 15 minute barefoot warm up, designed to target your core and prepare your body to walk in heels (or on your tippy toes). Next, time to dim the lights, turn up the jams, and get those heels on. We’ll walk across the room cultivating confidence and style along the way. Afterwards we will learn a short routine and spend the last moments of class dancing together.

 

Don’t get scared! I pride myself on choreography that is accessible to everyone.

"From the age of 8-18 I lived and breathed dance. I spent every night, weekend and summer in a studio.   Upon graduating high school dance slowly started to fade out of life and I thought it was something I just would never do again because there aren’t many “adult” dance classes. Finally back in November of 2021 (at the age of 32!) I decided it was time to get back in a studio and I stumbled upon Chelsea’s adult heels class.

 

I was so nervous to step back in a studio, a place that once was so familiar to me, but I am so thankful I did and with Chelsea as my teacher!

 

I could quickly see she makes a point to meet you at your experience level and makes the class challenging enough to know you are getting a work out in. Since November, I’ve made it my Monday night ritual to attend heels class and have started to build a small community with the other ladies that go.

I reject the notion that health & fitness has to feel stale! My own journey to health became vibrant as soon as I started to look inward for healing, and I love unlocking that for other people. I believe you are your greatest teacher and healer. My job is to teach you how to listen to wisdom already inherent in your body and arm you with practices that support and empower.

“Sensuous Knowledge” is a favorite book of mine because it puts the arts, the body, and that ethereal quality of spirit on an equal footing with our intellectual ability. It demands for the arts to be elevated, not just as a source of entertainment, but also as a source of wisdom. 

It demands we celebrate all aspects of self: Not just the body, not just the mind, but also that still, small part of you that comes alive when listening to great music. I believe, it is only by bringing all of you into a movement practice that meaningful change can be achieved. Salami also writes, “freedom is not the absence of suffering, it is the absence of suffering from being yourself.”

So that’s why I do what I do.

I help people feel free, believing that by healing ourselves, we heal each other.

Yoga taught me everything I wish I had learned in high school biology. In a sense, it’s the art & science of having a body. Most of us spend our lives in survival mode with our automated stress responses running the show. For years, I suffered from autoimmune symptoms and severe intestinal problems. I believed I had to accept limitations around how good I could feel in my own skin.

 

Practicing yoga changed everything for me.

 

I got out of survival mode and learned how to thrive. The best part is that I didn’t have to look for help from anyone else. Don't get me wrong: There were a lot of books, classes, and teachers who influenced my body re-education.... But, in the end, I discovered that all I require is already within me.

 

Yoga recognizes that thinking yourself out of stress is impossible; the only way out is to breathe, move, and feel.
