Fall is here! Or at least I think it is... sometimes it's hard to tell from Southern California. These 90 degree days don't conjure the typical leaf changing, sweater wearing, apple cider drinking images of fall but it is unmistakably upon us. We are back from summer vacations, back to school, and most excitingly, back to DANCE CLASS! As I gear up to begin this 2018-2019 season, I want to take a moment to look back on some of the changes, challenges, and new experiences I've taken on in this past year. I began teaching an adult heels class, catering to women who are not professional dancers. These women came from all walks of life, some with little dance experience and some with none at all. Developing a program for them, one that fostered self confidence, promoted physical fitness, and focused on FUN, was my passion project. Those classes inspired me to launch STRUT - a series of masterclasses designed to empower women through dance. (CLICK HERE for more information and to view a highlight reel.)
Another moment that sticks out is working with some of my elite students from Revolution Dance Center on a concept video. (CLICK HERE to view the video and behind the scenes footage.) I'm so grateful to have produced, directed, and choreographed the entire project. Didn't hurt to have such a talented cast! Teaching and being behind the scenes is thrilling for me... but I'll never be tired of performing. This past year also included several cool performances. Somewhere in there I found the time to complete my yoga teaching certification. Studying yoga has reminded me that taking care of MYSELF is the first step in taking care of others. Yoga helps me feel connected to something bigger than myself and not to mention, really takes care of this sometimes overworked dancer's body. It's important to me to always remain a student, I can't wait to begin sharing all I've learned! Despite being the ninth mont of the year, September has always felt like a time for new beginnings to me. The launch of this web site is a new beginning. I invite you to follow my journey here and think about what new beginnings you are ready for in your own life!
